What mamas told me

Before I built this, I sat down with postpartum mamas and asked one question: what is the problem with getting dressed?

These are the sentences that came back, almost word for word, from woman after woman. I kept them. Every choice in this capsule is an answer to one of them.

I feel trapped in the leggings and baggy tee rut, but I want to feel like a person again.
I have a closet full of clothes but absolutely nothing to wear for a quick outing.
I feel guilty spending money on clothes for a body that might change again next month.
Nothing from my pre-pregnancy closet fits, and trying to force it on is just depressing.
It is nearly impossible to nurse in regular clothes.
I am constantly leaking or covered in spit-up.
High-waisted pants either dig into my C-section scar or roll right down under my belly.
I look in the mirror and do not recognise who is looking back at me.
Buttons, zippers and tight waistbands are painful.
To the rut, the mirror, the closet full of nothingTwo hundred outfits, decided, fifty for the weather you have today. You copy one. Tomorrow is handled, and it is not leggings.
To the guilt, and the body that changes againSix colours that agree, shapes that layer, four neutrals carrying two soft colours. You buy once, in pieces that keep working as you change, and you stop buying twice a year.
To the nursing, the leaks, the scar, the waistbandsEvery top opens, crosses over, unbuttons or lifts. Waistbands with give and no button at the navel. Dark bottoms, a layer that lives in the car, and a bonus planner for the days your body has other plans.
Built against every one of those sentences. Two hundred outfits, four seasons, three bonuses, $29 once.

How it is worn

Not a flat lay on a table. A body, moving, through a day.

The garden, the school run, the waiting room, the office door, the walk with the pram. Outfits from the two hundred, worn, in all four seasons, in the same six colours.

The stripe and the cardigan in spring. Linen and sandals in summer. The trench and dark denim in autumn. The wrap coat and the floral dress in winter. Every outfit in the guide has its own photo like these.

Four of the two hundred

Every outfit in the guide is shown like this: laid out, then worn, with the note on why and how it opens.

You do not have to own any of it to use it. The shapes are deliberately ordinary, so you can find them in your own wardrobe and in any shop at any price. What you are buying is the arrangement, not a shopping list.

The palette

Six colours and three prints that never argue with each other

Four quiet neutrals carry the capsule and two soft colours lift it. Any two pieces you grab in the dark will work, and nothing here goes out of season.

THE LIGHTSThe base
IvoryThe camis, the tees, the shirts, the cardigan. The pale thing nearest your face.
TaupeTrench, longline cardigan, cigarette trousers, the nursing dress. The warm in-between.

The pale thing nearest your face, and the warm in-between that softens everything.

THE ANCHORSThe darks
NavyWide-leg, leggings, skirt, blazer, shirt dress. The polished anchor.
EspressoStraight trousers, satin skirt, wrap coat, loafers, boots. The deep one.

One in every outfit so the lights have something to sit against. Navy leans polished, espresso leans warm.

THE COLOURSThe lift
Dusty roseThe wrap tank, the blouse, the wrap cardigan. Softness near the face.
BurgundyWrap top, wrap dress, cardigan, slingbacks, the shoulder bag. The statement.

Rose near the face on a tired day, burgundy for the evenings. Once in an outfit, never twice.

The one ruleKeep one dark, one mid and one pale in every outfit, and let rose or burgundy appear once, never twice. Navy, taupe and ivory with a burgundy shoe reads as a decision. The three prints count as one colour each: the stripe and the polka dot as navy, the floral as espresso.

Strongly warm or strongly cool? The guide shows the few swaps to make, espresso for navy or charcoal for espresso, and not one outfit changes. The prints: an ivory and navy Breton stripe, a navy polka dot, an espresso floral.

Built into the page

It is not a PDF you scroll once. It is a page that works for you every week.

The PDF is there for the print. The page is where you live. It reads your colouring, your shape this month and your calendar, and it stays where you left it on every screen you own.

The Year Round Capsule page on a monitor, a laptop and two tablets: the cool palette swap, the shape section and the planner
IF THE COLOURS ARE NOT YOURSThe same capsule, warmer or coolerGold or silver, cream or ivory? One section shows the few swaps to make: espresso for navy if you run warm, charcoal for espresso and berry for burgundy if you run cool. Every shape, formula and feeding rule stays exactly as it is.
FOR THE SHAPE YOU ARE NOWWhere you are carrying it this monthNot apple or pear. Through the middle, in the chest, in the hips, all over: pick the paragraph that is true this month and it tells you which of these pieces to lean on, and why. Come back when it changes.
YOUR PLANNERA week and a month, filled by youTap a day, pick an outfit from the guide, add a note (school run, clinic, dinner). Walk the month forward and back. It remembers, so Sunday night takes four minutes.

The three bonuses

From me

The point of a capsule is not owning less. It is buying less, twice a year, for the rest of your life.

I used to replace my wardrobe every six months without ever deciding to. It happened in small amounts: a few summer things in May because nothing fitted, a few winter things in October for the same reason, and by the following spring the summer things were wrong again. The spending was invisible because it never happened all at once, and it never stopped.

What breaks that cycle is not discipline. It is buying in colours that agree and in shapes that layer. If your navy wide-leg trousers work with a sandal in July and an ankle boot in January, and your ivory clip cami goes under a linen shirt in June and under a cardigan and a wrap coat in December, then the seasons stop being a reason to shop. They become a reason to put something on top.

So this capsule has no season in it. Navy and ivory because they are crisp on a tired face and never date, taupe and espresso because they soften everything, dusty rose and burgundy because a mother is allowed colour. Two hundred outfits, and every single one shown on a real body as well as laid flat, because you should not have to imagine it at seven in the morning. And everything opens, because a top you cannot feed in is not a top, it is a problem.

Questions

What mamas ask before they buy.

Do I have to buy the fifty-six pieces?

No. The shapes are ordinary on purpose: a navy wide-leg trouser, an ivory cardigan, a Breton stripe, a clip cami. Most of them are already in your wardrobe in some form. The guide tells you which three to buy first if you are buying, and what to use instead if you are not.

These are not quite my colours.

The colours are the example, not the rule. The palette sits in the middle so most women can wear it, and the guide shows the few swaps to make if you run strongly warm or cool, without losing an outfit.

Does it really work for feeding?

Every outfit says exactly how it opens: clips, a lift layer, buttons or a wrap. The two knit dresses that do not open are marked for bottle days. The Layering Guide bonus works the feed out for every layered outfit, season by season.

What is the difference between this and the other capsules?

The others are built for one kind of day: work, the walks, travel, the first weeks at home. This one is the whole year, two hundred outfits, each with its own photo, and three bonuses. It is the one to buy if you are only buying one.

Can I print it?

Yes. The PDF is designed to print, and the two bonus workbooks are made to be written in.

Is there a refund?

No, because the guide is delivered the moment you pay. The free Postpartum Lookbook on the home page shows you exactly how I lay outfits out, so you can see the style before you spend anything.

Buy once, in colours that agree, in shapes that layer.

Then the seasons stop being a reason to shop. They become a reason to put something on top.
